Nose: Red velvet cake, plums, cloves.
Palate: Sulfur, very astringent and tannic, black tea, plum.
Rating: 2 / 10 – ouch
Nose: Berries and cream, bath balm explosion
Palate: Tastes like kissing a bath and bodyworks. A high end raspberry oatmeal soap bar. Heavily coats my mouth.
Rating: 3 / 10
Nose: Graham crackers, cedar, white peach tea, vanilla bean, butterscotch
Palate: Red vines, cinnamon bears, vanilla taffy.
Rating: 4 (Ryan) 6 (Shane) / 10 – my teeth tingle, everything being turned up to 11. But the flavors are solid.
Nose: Vanilla wafers, sugary frosting, diluted windex
Palate: Comin’ in hot. Wood is real intense. Lemon pledge, lightest sulfur note. Finishes on a real green note.
Rating: 3 / 10 – this isn’t great
Nose: Baking soda, mild pickling juice, old lady perfume.
Palate: Light oats, sour milk.
Rating: 3 / 10
Nose: Golden raisins, dandelions, bee pollen, peach gummies.
Palate: Lead pencil, dirty wood, peach gummies, slight taste of mushrooms
Rating: 2 / 10 – such discordance.
Nose: Nutmeg, touch of the wet ski boot, sulfur, bottom shelf milk chocolate – more yoo-hoo chocolate drink than Tony’s Chocolonely, and a weird smokeyness that is probably peat but isn’t wonderful?!? Something pretty herbal.
Palate: Ash tray, glazed burnt ham on the verge of going bad, menthol vapor rubs.
Rating: 1 / 10 – I could rub this shit on my chest if I runs out of vicks. But then I would smell like a crotchety old lady. Sadly the Usquebach society was not having a good day when they picked this. Maybe they this harkens to Genever and made them feel at home?
Nose: Holy bananas, banana bread, freeze dried bananas. Walnuts, baking powder, honeysuckle. Okay you may all hate me, but I can’t unsmell it even after setting it down. Wet pampers.
Palate: Boring. This water has some nice mineral elements, kinda tastes like water used to clean the still. And tastes a touch like cardboard. Shane “wonders” if it tastes like wet pampers, but can neither confirm nor deny that. Subtle coffee and fruits on the finish.
Rating: 2 (Shane) 3 (Ryan) / 10 – meh is being generous. I think time has done it in.
Nose: Sugar frosting, grape jolly rancher
Palate: Strong bazooka joes grape gum, mild sulfur note.
Rating: 4 / 10 – meh
Nose: Buttery, vanilla, white tea.
Palate: Cabinet spices, redvines, rooibos, orange peel, slightly sour bourbon cask note.
Rating: 5 / 10
Nose: Sour note, slightly nutty, sugar.
Palate: Strong, but good wood, touch of sweetness which nicely negates some of the wood, big sip, dates, prunes, cane honey, subtle molasses, black pepper
Rating: 5 / 10 – fine but oddly non descript
Nose: Prune juice, dates, vanilla bean, sulfur
Palate: Black tea, chocolate and tobacco… and sulfur. Too much for me.missing a touch of sweetness.
Rating: 5 (Ryan) 3 (Shane) / 10 – this is a pretty solid cask if it wasn’t for the sulfur
Nose: Leather, molasses, balsamic reduction, nutty, prunes and dates, brown sugar oatmeal, carrot greens
Palate: Coffee grounds, cherry vinegar, cola cubes, licorice root, rootbeer, veers towards herbal on the finish
Rating: 7 (Shane) 6 (Ryan) / 10 – Love me a good PX bomb
Nose: Burn, sawdust, butter sauteed pears, kumquat, cut grass.
Palate: Unripe nectarines, kumquats, raw almonds, fun bitters, comes on hot hot hot.
Rating: 5 / 10 – a meh nose but a fun fruity sour palate.
Nose: Sweet brown butter, stone fruit, honey, marshmallow fluff, movie popcorn butter all married with a pervasive acetone note
Palate: Bourbon cask, caramel cream, , finishes on a slightly sour note
Rating: 5 (Ryan) 4 (Shane) / 10
