Palate: Anise powerhouse, plastic, lavender, honeydew melon.
Rating: 5 / 10 β reminds me of a very floral st james. Interesting but not my jam.
Nose: Peanut brittle, acetone, elegant pineapple, stargazer lilly, muscovado brown sugar.
Palate: Well balanced woody elegant estery goodness, pineapple, papaya, leather, cedar, anti-freeze, with a dollop of water this opens up beautifully.
Rating: 8 / 10 β STπ€CEβs mom got it going on
Nose: Big caramel apple, honey, cabinet spices
Palate: Thin, slightly bitter, orange blossom
Rating: 5 / 10 β love the nose, I find the palate only okay
Nose: Chamomile tea, cane syrup, honey, brown sugar, molasses, waxy
Palate: Thin on the palate, tannins like when cooking with cheap wine, pistachio, echoes of marsala, watered down black tea
Rating: 4 (Ryan) 3 (Shane) / 10 β disappointing
Nose: Pickling spices, slightly turned tropical fruit, toasted coconut, pan fried banana
Palate: A muddled gentle generic rum punch. A bit astringent on the finish. An ephemeral sweetness without any striking notes.
Rating: 5 / 10 β frankly kind of disappointing. Fine but nothing special. I did get a chance to try the full proof version at whisky live Paris later and its night and day.
Nose: Tutti fruiti, orange mango creamsicle popsicle, grilled pineapple, loads of bananas, acetone / model glue, large rain barrel plastic, cedar
Palate: A juicy fruit explosion. The initial creamy sweetness on the front of the palate is absolutely delightful. A hint of number two pencil, yellow paint and graphite. Hints of garden notes tiptoing to curry notes with water. As the palate evolves a nice wallop of well integrated wood comes into play.
Rating: 9 / 10 β massive estery fruit insanity. This is just over the top. Iβm really impressed how they managed to push the boundaries and yet make it so damn fun and delicious.
Nose: Tropical butter, toasted almonds, warming wood, star of anise.
Palate: Cinnamon, wood, green bellpepper, szechuan pepper, pencil lead, shellfish – mussels in white wine.
Rating: 5 / 10 β two years later and my bottle is still at 70%. Nuf said.
Nose: It’s so damn green and cloying. Cane juice. The basil note is so distinct, Iβm genuinely impressed. Lime peel. wine vinegar. White pepper. Mustard seed.
Palate: The flavor is light and quite approachable, although the new make note in some ways is highlighted by the basil. if you have never had the absolutely delightful pleasure of popping open a finger lime and tasting those tiny flavor bombs, make it a priority. Then we wander to the herb garden. Touch of parsley and lemon verbena. Limestone and light clay. Wisps of fresh cocoa. This really reminds me of some of the lighter mezcals, with it’s heavy minerality.
Rating: 6 / 10 β the notes all balance nicely. This is for a hot day. And more than anything, an awesome cocktail ingredient.
Nose: Vanilla, angel food cake, apple cider vinegar, walnuts, powdered sugar.
Palate: This is like having the state fair explode in your taste buds. Sweet powdered sugar sprinkled on deep fried fatty whatever you might dream up? Deep fried butter? Check. Deep fried candy bars? Funnel cake? Vanilla ice cream? Ohhhh yeah. The wood weights in nicely with an rootbeer / licorice vibe.
Rating: 8 (Shane) 9 (Ryan) / 10 β what a big all around well integrated beauty
Nose: Wintergreen lifesavers, haribo gummybears, hazelnut, orange peel, prune juice, diesel fumes.
Palate: Strong wood forward tannins, slightly herbal, overaged/steeped black tea, orange peel, anise/clove.
Rating: 6 / 10 β it’s like a cognac or guyana on steroids. While I like all the notes (even the herbal) it’s just turned up too loud and Iβm overwhelmed.
Nose: Pencil shavings, coconut water, beach driftwood cement glue, tahini, sf bay water, touch of tropical fruit punch notes, mango and tajin.
Palate: Juicy fruit bubblegum, cinnamon, mango, yellow peach, fun citrus notes deep in the yuzu vibe, just lovely tropical notes, super pronounced cedar element, aniseseed in the indian restaurants, touch of funk, all super well balanced
Rating: 8 / 10 β what a fabulous palate. Mad mad props to Joy and her skills. This drinks like a super elegant and refined Caroni, minus some of the dirt. The nose isnβt quite up to the palate.
Nose: Overripe mango, banana peels, grilled leeks, fresh oysters with mignonette.
Palate: Bubble gum, touch of lead, cotton candy grapes, sucralose
Rating: 5 / 10 β super pleasant but not much depth. Just sweet and fun
Nose: New car smell, air freshener, new tire, plastic toys, fresh cut grass, soy beans.
Palate: Slightly sweet, slight chemical, peach jolly rancher.
Rating: 4 / 10 β the petroleum notes are starting to show up
Nose: Much more balances, coriander, cumin, kaffir lime leaf, watermelon, dried orange peel, baking soda bread
Palate: Simple syrup, rootbeer barrel, parmesan, diesel from swimming in the SF bay.
Rating: 5 / 10 β I enjoy the baseline
Nose: Nice tropical notes, super ripe bananas, pineapple which fermented in its own shell, coriander, cumin, kaffir lime
Palate: Fruit explosion, grilled pineapple, wintergreen, pencil wood and lead.
Rating: 6 / 10 β this is that lovely full on palate with a mix of fruit n funk
