Nose: Beeswax candles, creme brulee, graham crackers, lemon pledge
Palate: Tangerine, graham crackers, white tea
Rating: 7 / 10 – absolutely delicious.
Nose: Kumquat marmalade, unfiltered sake in a cedar box.
Palate: In french sulfur is “soufre“ which if you ask me is probably an early conjugation / bastardization of “souffrir”, or to suffer. If you can ride out the front of the palate, the finish is quite lovely, turns fruity and jammy.
Rating: 2 (Shane) 3 (Ryan) / 10 – Ryan doesn’t even mind toejam, and yet look at this score. Unfortunately, it is what it is.
Nose: Fishermans friend, anise, cherry lolly.
Palate: Cachou lajaunie (licorice, mint), raspberry, peat smoke.
Rating: 7 / 10 – what a pungent and rich mouthful. Weird and in a good way.
Nose: Rice krispies treat, dried apricot, barley sugar candy, nougat, sandalwood, dried hard goat cheese
Palate: Banana peel, graham cracker, old fashion clove candies. Cumin and ginger. Big fun palate with lots of flavors.
Rating: 6 / 10
Nose: Fruit bomb. Ripe cantaloupe melon, tons of honey, green olives stuffed with lemon pulp, fresh cut green wood and alfalfa, a young spirit ethanal note. A quite lovely nose.
Palate: A very dry citrus note, lemon blossom honey in white tea, Astringency is the connecting note, which makes it a hint hard to love, on the finish there is a yeasty note. This definitely benefits from a bigger mouthful.
Rating: 5 (Shane) 4 (Ryan) / 10 – I can’t tell if this is simply young and that is the astringent ethanol note, or if it’s the effect of the manzanilla. Super promising, I love parts of it, Ryan is less impressed.
Nose: Walking into a natural food shop. Natural soaps, and patchouli to cover the lack of proper bathing practices. Or an old fashion, brown sugar and butter, angostura bitters, rose hips, incense, grape popsicle. Add water and it reminds me of irish spring soap.
Palate: Potpourri, diffuser liquid, tangerine soap, moth balls
Rating: 3 (Shane) 4 (Ryan) / 10 – this is really hard to drink and yet so interesting that I can’t stop drinking it. Nope, unlike Ryan, I stopped. I don’t need to drink distilled bath balm,.
Nose: Snapple peach tea and hello alcohol! Old school McDonald’s Baked Peach Pie dessert. Fresh Madagascar vanilla beans. Sticky fig and date pudding. Sugary syrup in fruit cocktail. Jordan almonds. Biscoff cookie, caramel, coconut marshmallows.
Palate: Fleeting initial note of the cheeky peachy and then goes more tannic and dry like oversteeped black tea and oak. Palate is thin and missing heft, not a lot going on here. I don’t agree with ryan. Carmeley. Tasted anise treats.
Rating: 4 (Ryan) 5 (Shane) / 10
Nose: Freshly cut grass complete with the exhaust from a gas lawn mower, clay pottery, the brown bottle cap candy (root beer), fried green tomatoes with remoulade, incredibly ripe cantaloupe, bbq lighter fluid, green olives, sal de gusanito
Palate: A trip to the gas station, clay / limestone – strong minerality and earthiness – potting soil, intense chamomile tea, melon pear (which is actually a sweet and strange sour cucumber) slightly metallic finish, hickory, long long finish is subtle touch of tea tree
Rating: 5 (Ryan) 4 (Shane) / 10 – this is a fine pour and I quite like the nose. I wouldn’t turn it away if offered, but that’s about where it ends. It has a very environmentally unfriendly bent to it : )
Nose: Sultanas and sweet moments with a chalky vibe
Palate: Sweet sherry notes, dried cherries, licorice stick, unctuous palate and super long finish, tobacco leaves
Rating: 7 / 10 – I don’t get the peat at all, but it’s tasty. Doubt I’d ever pay macallan prices for it but it’s good.
