Daniel Bouju Lot 60 “Le Brule” @ 50.5% From Malternative Belgium #14

Nose: Sour grass, tobacco leaf, caramelized brown sugar on kumquat with a sprinkle of seasalt, black tea.

Palate: Oh damn that first sip is spectacular. Cola cubes. Rootbeer barrel candy. Australian soft black licorice. Pomegranate molasses. Touch of cloves and nutmeg and back to tobacco and leather. So well balanced.

Rating: 8 / 10 – I rarely comment on color but this stuff is the second coming of motor oil and madagascar vanilla extract. The palate is something special, all the goodness of oak without going off the deep end. It’s hands down amazing. I am someone who is deeply influenced by the smell, and If the nose matched the palate, this would be a 9++ and could even be an elusive 10. But alas, a world class palate and an acceptable nose. Either way, it’s something truly special.
