Nose: An earthy sweetness. Mushrooms sautéed in sherry. Toasted almonds. Sawdust the morning after working on furniture with my dad, when the dew has mingled and layered it down. A spicy sweetness, cloves and strawberry Milka bar.
Palate: Cranberry relish and orange peel. Unripened apricot. A hefty helping of anise and drying oak. The Oloroso vibe is drier and doesn’t dominate quite as much as the sherry in some of the other versions.
Rating: 6 / 10 – A solid redbreast I’d be glad to drink but perhaps my least favorite of the 4 batches.
