Nose: Tantalizing with layers. Not sure why I expected an oak wallop and little more. Instead I find myself thinking of the last pomegranate simple syrup I tried. I liked it enough to get lost in conversation, discussing their use of orange blossom water vs adding a touch of citric acid. I’ve always wondered if a barrel aged simple syrup could be viable, or if without the proofing it would just instantly go rancid? Or if the high sugar content could preserve it just like honey. Okay, all relevant to the nose but still wandering off topic. Closer to a flat cherry coke. Oh hell, that is basically a roy rogers. And something lightly umami, braggs aminos?
Palate: What the what?!? This is astonishing on the first sip. Big huge oak n cola with a heavy Luxardo cherry vibe. This deserves a poetic waxing but fuck it, I’m going to just pour the rest and go sit with my daughter and watch an episode of one piece. Teenagers rock, because you can finally watch the same shows. Although lately she keeps trying to push my boundaries now that she is obsessed with horror and I’m a huge coward.
Rating: 9 / 10 – If you can get one, just do it.
